 Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry which basically aims to replace lost or damaged teeth with artificial materials. The artificial materials used are dentures, oral and facial prosthesis, and dental implants. It involves diagnosis and treatment of missing teeth and oral and maxillofacial tissues. It aims to restore an overall oral function, appearance and comfort of patients. This dentistry branch is also known as prosthetic dentistry or dental prosthetics.  

 

Who Is A Prosthodontist?

    A prosthodontist is a dentist who provides creative methods to restore and replace teeth. Unlike, other dental specialist, prosthodontist receive an extra 2 or 3 years training. The training is usually achieved through a university based program or hospital. The training sessions include basic reviews of literature, treatment procedures, lectures, and laboratory practice. A prosthodontist works to retain a flawless appearance and function of smile.
